Just because a tattoo is funny doesn’t mean it’s bad. And just because it’s intricate doesn’t mean it’s good.
But whatever the case, tattoos like these are always worth a look. Whether they make you laugh or leave you in awe, there’s something undeniably entertaining about them.
So here’s a compilation of viral tattoos we found on the Instagram account Vrise Viral, which is entirely dedicated to collecting them. From bizarre to hilarious and everything in between—enjoy!

Tattoos are one of the most personal forms of creative expression, both for the person getting inked and the artist behind the needle. Between the concept and the technical execution, a lot of collaboration and care goes into making the final result just right.

But people are people. Everyone has their own ideas about what looks good, what makes sense, and what’s worth committing to permanently. Some clients come in with ideas that are… let’s say, highly questionable. And when someone ends up hating their tattoo, well, that’s often a “them” problem.
Of course, there’s the other scenario: the artist messes up. And that’s a different kind of heartbreak entirely.

Then there’s the third, arguably funniest, option—when the person absolutely loves their tattoo, but everyone else who sees it can’t believe what they’re looking at. Not the worst outcome, really. At least it’s their choice, and most people will forget it after a quick glance.

And then there’s a whole other category: tattoos that not everyone might “get,” but are definitely appreciated by those with good taste and a sense of humor to match.
We reached out to a tattoo artist who captures that spirit perfectly, right down to his name. Known by his moniker Frogmagik, he’s the artist behind Deepwood Tattoo in Sweden and the mind behind one particularly suspicious-looking grandma you’ll spot among the images below (yes, with very unexpected legs—give it an upvote, obviously).

We wanted to know where his delightfully bizarre style comes from, and it turns out, grandmas are a big part of the story.
“I’ve been tattooing for 15 years,” Frogmagik told us. “My grandmother had a tattoo of a frog with a wizard’s hat on her arm. I remember looking at it when I was a kid. I was somehow both fascinated, scared, and jealous of it. It was a weird mix of emotions for a small, unspoiled child. I think that’s the reason I’m tattooing!”

His art may look chaotic at first glance, but there’s a method behind it, or at least, a vibe.
“I think clean and simple stuff is something I aim for. Although, I wouldn’t say that my tattoos are always simple or clean. Or maybe simple, but not that clean,” Frogmagik joked.

“I try to create a certain expression. Sometimes it works out straight away, and sometimes I try to draw it like 50 times and it still doesn’t work. The best feeling is usually when it comes out of nowhere, when I can draw without using my brain and just spontaneously do stuff without questioning anything,” he explained.
From laughing babies with big green bellies to intellectual fruits and mysterious animals, Frogmagik’s work walks the line between silly and surreal, and clearly, he’s not the only one who appreciates that balance.

So if you ever find yourself in Sweden and you’re in the market for a silly (but brilliant) tattoo, now you know exactly where to go. Just remember, tattoos are permanent, so take a moment to really let that sink in.
And don’t forget the aftercare! Follow what your tattoo artist tells you, and you’ll be just fine. You’ve got this.
